It has been an exciting few weeks for BCI Minerals as we celebrated the completion of Mardie Road, marking a significant milestone in the company's journey and paving the way for future achievements.

Construction of Mardie Road began in January and was expertly undertaken by Q.H. & M. Birt, a company known for its exceptional infrastructure projects.

BCI Managing Director David Boshoff said Mardie Road is an integral infrastructure for BCI Minerals' future operations.

“The road will serve as the primary route for our rock haul campaign, playing a crucial role in strengthening our pond walls and ensuring the success of our project,” Mr Boshoff said.

“It took a whopping 694,000 m3 of civil material to build this road, which is a monumental achievement that speaks to our commitment to excellence.”

The completion of Mardie Road enabled another significant milestone with the delivery of the first batch of rock armour and the beginning of construction of the rock embankments that will strengthen the project's pond walls.

The contract for supplying this crucial rock armour was awarded to Pilbara Quarries, a company established through a joint venture between Nyiyaparli Traditional Owner Stewart Drage and Martin Shuttleworth. Nyiyaparli is the Traditional Owners of the land upon which the Iron Valley Mine operates, managed by Mineral Resources under a royalty agreement with BCI.

Head of External Relations Arron Minchin said: “Collaboration between BCI and Indigenous businesses underscores the importance of respecting the traditional custodians in the region – a key priority for the business”.

The rock armour will be processed at the Mt Regal Quarry near Karratha and transported to the Mardie Salt and Potash Project site between September and December this year.

The completion of Mardie Road and the arrival of the rock armour represent a significant step forward for the Project.
