BCI BAH LOW RES 08874

BCI Mineral’s Mardie Salt and Potash Project is ideally located on the Pilbara coast in the center of Western Australia's key salt production region, on the lands of the Yaburara and Mardudhunera people.

Mardie is a future tier 1 solar evaporation Project that will be a sustainable supplier of salt and potash to the growing chemical and agricultural industries for generations.

In a recent Public Benefit Assessment, it was revealed that the Project is poised to make a substantial and lasting contribution to the local community and the Australian economy. The report underscored the Project's potential to drive economic growth, create jobs, and promote regional stability.

Construction phase: a surge in economic activity

During the construction phase, the Mardie Project is expected to inject a significant economic boost into Australia. In present value terms, the Project is projected to contribute up to $443 million to Gross Regional Product (GRP).

Further, according to the report, the construction phase alone will peak at 945 jobs, both directly and indirectly, and lead to a $268 million boost to the economy.

This infusion of capital will have a positive ripple effect on the local economy, supporting businesses and communities throughout the region.

Ongoing operations: a sustained economic engine

Beyond construction, the Mardie Project promises to provide an ongoing economic uplift.

Over its first 60 years, the Project is expected to contribute about $4.44 billion to the GRP, while creating significant employment opportunities, directly and indirectly.

Population growth and regional resilience

The Project is also a catalyst for regional growth and resilience, offering permanent employment opportunities across various skill levels and stimulating economic activity for local businesses. Mardie is expected to attract new workers and families to the region.

By reducing regional economic volatility and maintaining stability, the Project enhances the long-term attractiveness of the area for families and businesses.

During operation, the Project will employ over 140 people at one time, plus a number of contractors and indirect roles.

As it stands, BCI’s Mardie Project has outstanding technical and economic potential. Its long life, scale, low operating costs, and high-quality products will deliver employment, development, and multi-generational benefits to not only people in the Pilbara region but to the broader Australian economy and beyond.
